Boris Berman

Boris Berman si esibisce regolarmente in più di cinquanta paesi in sei continenti. Tra le sue acclamatissime esibizioni vi sono state apparizioni con la Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, la Gewandhaus Orchestra, la Philharmonia (Londra), la Toronto Symphony, la Israel Philharmonic, la Minnesota Orchestra, la Detroit Symphony, la Houston Symphony, l'Atlanta Symphony, la St. Petersburg Philharmonic e la Royal Scottish Orchestra. Frequente esecutore di importanti serie di recital, è apparso anche in molti importanti festival. Nato a Mosca, ha studiato al Conservatorio Tchaikovsky di Mosca con l'illustre pianista Lev Oborin. Nel 1973 ha lasciato una fiorente carriera in Unione Sovietica per emigrare in Israele, dove si è rapidamente affermato come uno dei pianisti più richiesti. Attualmente risiede a New Haven, USA. Insegnante di caratura internazionale, Boris Berman è Head of Piano presso la Yale School of Music e tiene corsi di perfezionamento in tutto il mondo. A teacher of international stature, Boris Berman is Head of Piano at the Yale School of Music and teaches master classes around the world. He has been appointed honorary professor at the Shanghai Conservatory, the Danish Royal Conservatory in Copenhagen, and the China Conservatory in Beijing. He is frequently invited to serve on juries for various international competitions. A Grammy nominee, Berman has recorded all solo piano works by Prokofiev and Schnittke, complete sonatas by Scriabin, works by Mozart, Weber, Schumann, Brahms, Franck, Shostakovich, Debussy, Stravinsky, Berio, Cage and Joplin. Recently the French label Le Palais des Degustateurs released Boris Berman's recording of Brahms' Klavierstücke. In 2000, Yale University Press published his book Notes from the pianist's bench. In this book, he explores issues of piano technique and musical interpretation. The book has been translated into several languages. In November 2017, Yale University Press published the newly revised version of the book, enriched with multimedia elements. In 2008, Yale University Press published Boris Berman's second book, "Prokofiev's Piano Sonatas: a guide for the listener and the performer." Boris Berman was also editor of the new critical edition of Prokofiev's Piano Sonatas (Shanghai Music Publishing House). In 2019-20, Boris Berman gave concertsand master classes in Austria, China, Holland, Israel, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.
